Club History

Chorleywood Common Youth FC was founded in 1976.

The club uses land leased from Three Rivers District Council on the basis that we maintain the area.

John Woodbridge, our current groundsman, was a founder member as manager of his son’s team.

The Club Today

The Club today supports a total of 19 teams from age U8 to U18 and has 7 pitches.

12 teams are 11-a-side playing in the Watford Friendly League and 9 teams are 7-a-side playing in the West Herts League.

There is also a thriving Saturday morning coaching session for U7’s.

CCYFC is one of the largest youth football clubs this side of the county, with membership now exceeding 300 players.

Club Aims

The main function is to cater for all the demands the community places on it with regard to the playing of Association Football – the club’s aim is to meet those needs.

A professional approach is taken irrespective of the level of football ability of the individual player. The club’s aim is to welcome all. There are often two squads at each age group, thus allowing for development at different rates.

All coaches and managers are volunteer parents, normally with a background of playing or a love of the game. They are very committed and enthusiastic people who give 100% effort to those in their care.

To improve the boys’ football development, the club makes available an external coach from the Watford FC community coaching services.

The club sponsors and encourages all its volunteers to attend coaching and first aid courses. A number of our managers already hold the F.A. Junior Team Managers award.
